
Obituary of Caroline Gosse
Today we celebrate the wonderful life of Caroline (Carrie) Gosse, a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, in her 79th year. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Henrietta Butler, parents-in-law, Charles and Mary Gosse, along with members of the Gosse and Butler families. Left behind with beautiful memories to cherish is her husband of 62 years, Richard, son Tony (Andrea), daughters; Jackie Buckle (Frank-deceased) Kerry Gosse-Eason (Darrell), grandchildren; Ryan (Nikita and Jaden), Erica (Brad, Sam and Thomas), Shayne, Natasha (Evan and Jack), Anthony (Rikayla), Caroline and her sister Annie Bussey (Wall-deceased), the Gosse Family and remembered by many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Carrie was a loyal and devoted volunteer in her community of Conception Bay South and throughout the province. She was a very active member of the All Saints Parish, the IODE organization, and a charter member of the CBS Lioness Club. She was a lifelong member of the Girl Guides of Canada and was instrumental in the building of the Con Ba Su Girl Guide Hut. Carrie will always be remembered for being a trailblazer for sports and recreation in her community. She was a founding member of the CBS Figure Skating Club and the Foxtrap Softball Association. She was a member of the Foxtrap Senior Hockey Executive, Secretary of the 1996 Summer Games Host Committee and a member of the CBS Ladies Fastpitch League. Carrie was also the first female umpire of the Men’s Senior Softball League, and she never backed down from a call.
Carrie received many prestigious recognitions and awards throughout her life. She was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, IODE Canada Community Relation Award, The Melvin Jones Fellow Lions Club International Foundation Award and the Conception Bay South Citizen of the Year.
Carrie and Richard were not only partners in life but partners in business for over 50 years. Carrie was an inspiration and a role model to so many. Her warmth, wisdom and kindness are her legacy to all of us who were blessed to know her. “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.”
Visitation in Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South on Wednesday, February 5th, 3:00 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 6th, 3:00 - 7:00 pm
Funeral service will take place on Friday, February 7th, 1:30pm, All Saints Anglican Church, 419 Conception Bay Highway. Internment: All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Dunn’s Hill Road.
