Norman Simpson

Obituary of Norman Simpson

It is with profound sadness the family regretfully announce the passing of Norman Angus Simpson on March 11th, 2025, at the age of 87years. Leaving to mourn with fond memories and heavy hearts his wife and best friend of 61 years Isabel, his daughter: Gail and son in law Jonathan Parnham, who was so much more than that title reflects, sons: Glen and Scott, and Pop’s adored grandson: Aiden Norman John, sister: Doreen and brother: Bill (Alverna) and family, brother-in-law: Tom Davis and family, as well as countless friends. Predeceased by his sister: Marjorie and brother-in-law: H. Bruce Tilley.

Norm touched the lives of countless young people in CBS through his selfless volunteering with community and school groups. He was beloved and respected in the sports community as Mr. Simpson, Uncle Norm or Pop. He has been recognized for volunteerism by the town of CBS for his contributions, and most recently with the Newfoundland and Labrador Confederation 75th Anniversary Medal.

Norm was inducted into the CBS Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 as an athlete of hockey, baseball, softball, basketball, figure skating and bowling and as a builder of the Holy Spirit Minor Hockey Association in 2018.

The family would like to thank the CBS Fire Department, the Orthopedic and Medicine Teams, as well as the many “sweethearts” of the Emergency Department, 5 East and 6 West at St Clare's for their exceptional care, compassion and respect.

Due to medical allergies, the family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CBR Minor Hockey Association or a charity of one's choice, in Norm's memory.
