
Obituary of Gerald Kyle Hynes
It is with deep sadness that our family is heartbroken to announce the tragic and sudden passing of our beloved Gerald “Kyle” Hynes at the young age of 33, on April 8th,2025 in St. John’s NL. Gerald whose family referred to him as Kyle and friends referred to his as “Scrappy “. Kyle is predeceased in death by his grandmother Mary, his uncles, John Paul, Kenny, Kevin, Aiden James and his aunt Cynthia. Survived by and leaving to mourn his Father Gerald, his Mother Caroline (Step Dad Rick), his Son Jamie, his siblings Natasha ( Brody, Brooklyn), Stephanie (Devin, Desmond), Chad, Angelina, Chantelle, Andrew, Tina, Shane , Nicole, and Liam. Also a huge extension of nieces and nephews, who he loved and cherished unconditionally. Also, leaving to mourn his grandmother Eileen and grandfather Gerald, along with a number of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. Kyle was always the active child from the time he could walk. Kyle was in involved in many sports such as softball, soccer, basketball; he was quite the little athlete. Kyle always had a good attitude, when it came to sportsmanship and he thrived, receiving a number of awards for sports. Kyle will always be remembered for his big heart, the tremendous amount of love and protection his family and friends. He was an amazing uncle to his nieces and nephews, who adored and loved him very much. Kyle was known to take the clothing off his body and give it to someone in need without question. While Kyle struggled many years, battling mental health, and addictions it never stopped him from loving and being kind to others in need. Kyle always tried to help others offering words of and advice of encouragement, while he himself had recently decided to take his own words of advice that would lead him to a better path in life. Kyle, we weren’t ready to say goodbye, you have been taken from us too soon. However, despite this tragic passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, and most importantly let’s not forget he was a father. Let’s all come together in comfort and prayer knowing that Kyle is finally at peace. May his troubles and sorrows be finally ridden, and may the heavens above greet him as the innocent soul he was born into this world as. We will forever remember Kyle for the big hearted person he was. Kyle never acted as the little brother, always the big brother and protector of his loved ones. We pray Kyle finds the peace he truly deserves and we will love and remember Kyle forever in our hearts and memories. A special thank you from the family, to all first responders involved who tried to save Kyle. To all the community support workers who assisted and helped support Kyle through his struggles. A special thank you to Chaplain Gerry Phelan for all the support he gave Kyle. Special thank you to Hickey’s Funeral home for all their guidance and support through this sad time that we have endured. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date in honor of Kyle “Scrappy” for his friends and the community.
