Betty, Susanne & Family
When I saw your Moms picture on Hickeys web site, the taught came to me that it’s so sad to lose someone we love dearly. I know that ye all loved her as much as she loved ye. It’s so good to see a close knit family, knit together in love. And you know its love that makes every thing worthwhile. Sue & Will were two of the nicest people you could meet. When we passed by her house most every Sunday morning she would be in the window waving her hand & throwing kisses at us & & we would throw them back at her & even when your Dad was there, he would be there sometimes too.
I have known them a lifetime. May God give you strength & comfort in the weeks & months to follow. And I know ye have all good memories of days gone by. So sorry for your loss. With Love, Care, & Sympathy Mary

Dear family, so sad to hear the news of Sue’s passing. Rest assured we are lifting you in prayer for God’s comfort , strength and peace.
Sue was always a good friend and beautiful neighbour who will be surely missed. The only source of joy this brings to me is that she now is walking heaven’s tableland , hand in hand with the love of her life , her husband Will. What joy and contentment ! Enjoy Sue and Will and I will look for you when I arrive…

Dear family,
To all my cousins, littles and spouses included; my strength and love is with you over the coming days. Sean and I send our condolences to you all. May all the memories shared bring you comfort in the days thereafter.
I still cannot believe Aunt Sue was called home, especially before grandmother, Myia (Amy). She worried about her so much these last few years. I hope I can be even half as close with my own sister in our old age as those two were….
I have so many snippets of memories of Aunt Sue. All fond, all of them are of her laughing. She was a case in her own right, always up for a grand time…and boy was there many! I loved nothing more growing up than ‘a time’ in this family, honestly there’s still nothing I love more but times have changed, sadly they’re few and far between now but back in those days if you didn’t hear Aunt Sue cracking up over some random thing she did or said to make someone else laugh, then you’d hear her singing. She always gave me goosebumps. She had one of those rare, distinctive voices that nobody else had…same as Myia. I don’t know how one family ended up with so much talent other than they must have had a special lineup in heaven just for them when they were all being assembled! Unfortunately, I ended up in the wrong line and ended up tall instead.
Aunt Sue was everywhere with us too, it seems. At the house, the cabin with the camper, without the camper; no matter what it just seems like she was just a fixture in my younger years.
One of my favourite memories though, I think, doesn’t even involve a party, or shenanigans. It was just good ol’ cozy togetherness, love, and caring in a crisis. It was Blackout ‘94, or as some these days know it, DarkNL…more people in the family still had woodstoves in the house then but we didn’t. Ours was in the shed which wasn’t big enough for much more than a sit and warm up, also had recently been the site of dressing the year’s hunt but raw wood is hard to clean, so it wasn’t a spot to camp out. The inns were full pretty much anywhere else except Aunt Sue’s! We did have a full house all the same, both upstairs and downstairs, but that just made it even better! We were warm, full of homemade soups, buns and chili, and quite happy. I got to know, and love cousins that night, that I didn’t spend time with at all before. It was great! I don’t have a great memory for details long term but that particular situation is definitely one that has left an impression on me and will stay with me forever.
I guess what I am trying to say is, Aunt Sue we may not have seen each other often since I got older, and we always say well, life…but there’s no reason not to make time really. I just hope you know that you and Uncle Will were thought of with joy, happiness, and love. Give my Dad and Pop a hug for me and we’ll see you on the other side. ‘Til we meet again…
