Francis (Frank) Joseph Kavanagh

January 26, 1932 – May 1, 2025

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Hospital with his family by his side, at the age of 93 years.

The last surviving member of his family, he is predeceased by his father William, mother Anne (nee Ghaney), brothers:  Sam, Ed, Pat and sister Helen and stepsiblings Jean, Rita, Tom, Jack, Jim, William, Maggie and Frank. 

He leaves many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews from the Skanes, Kavanagh, Gorman, Kent and O’Brien families who loved him dearly.

Frank has lived at Woodfords Comfort Manor in Holyrood for the last 40 years and though Bell Island was always in his heart, Woodfords Manor became his home. The staff who cared for him with so much love and compassion and the many fellow residents he lived with over the years were a huge part of his family and held a very special place in his heart.

From childhood Frank has faced physical disabilities and many health challenges and was never expected to have a long life. He faced all these challenges with grace and his very own brand of humour which we will always lovingly remember. Frank lived a simple life, he loved to sit and chat and reminisce about his family and days gone by, he enjoyed a sociable nip and was rarely seen without his favorite pack of Double mint chewing gum in his pocket which he would readily share.

We will miss him dearly and remember him always with love.

Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will take place in Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South on Tuesday ,May 6th from 2 – 6 pm.

Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 7th at 10:30 am at Hickey’s Memorial Chapel, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South.
