Samuel Upshall, Foxtrap, NL

April 19th1934- August 18th, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family of Samuel Upshall announces his peaceful passing at the age of 91.

Born in Chance Cove in 1934, Sam later made Foxtrap his home- a place where he built a life grounded in hard work, family and quiet strength.

He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Edith, His Parents John and Johanna Upshall, His sister Nell Piercey, and his brother George Upshall.

Left to mourn with loving hearts are his daughters: Mavis (Bob), Fay (Dean) and Crystal (Mike). Grand children Scott (Lori), Dawn (Chris), Jessica, Brandon, Sam (Madison), Nate and Mark. Great grandchildren Lucas, Logan.Lauren and Paige. Brother Less and Sisters Mabel, Alice and Anita. Also, he will be missed by his extended family, friends and wonderful home care workers.

Sams lifelong passion was his sawmill where he spent his days from daylight to dark. Whether it was sharping his saw or cutting lumber he a took great pride in his work. His hands told the story of a life dedicated to hard work and honest labour. He was a small man in stature however mighty in his spirt and strength. In later years Sam found joy in playing skip-bo often sharing laughter and friendly competition with those closets to him especially his wonderful home support workers. His sense of humour and faith. remained strong even in his quieter days.

Visitation in Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, from 1 pm – 7 pm. Funeral service in All Saints Anglican Church, Foxtrap on Thursday, August 21st, 2025, at 2 pm. Interment in All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Dunn’s Hill Road, Foxtrap.
