Jack (John) Samson Obituary

We are heartbroken to share that Jack (John) Patrick Samson passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Anyone who had the pleasure to know Jack would agree that he truly was one of the best. The biggest heart, the kindest eyes, the most gentle soul, and a smile on his face to the very end.

Born in St. Brendan’s on January 16, 1960, he spent his earliest years on the tiny island in Bonavista Bay that he would always call ‘home’. He moved with his family to Mundy Pond in 1967, but the ‘bay’ never left him. He loved to be in the woods or on the water, and there was nothing he wouldn’t build or fix. He spent his career with Newfoundland Power, working there for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a loving foster parent for 20 years, touching the lives of many children in that time. His love for his family was constant and steadfast, and we loved him just as fiercely back.

Predeceased by his parents Martina (nee Aylward) & Patrick Samson, his brothers Gordon (Dorothy) and Harold (Florence), and his parents’ in-law June & Haydyn Petten. Leaving behind his devoted wife Christina, his children Meghan (Adrian) & Christopher, and their mother Joan; Tiffany (Allistair), Kiara, Nevaeh, Iain, Nathan & Noah; his siblings Leonard (Juanita), Albert (Anita), Bridget, Patrick, and Kevin (Kelly). His angels Jill & Ms Laura, his grandchildren Jack & Adalynn, his best pals Gary & Midge, brother-in-law Russell Petten (Priscilla) and so many more nieces, nephews, and friends. Jack was a truly amazing man and will be deeply missed.
