It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of our darling husband, father, brother, bandmate and friend, Richard Harvey Parsons Jr., at home in his beloved garage on Friday December 19th, 2025. He lived 82 years full of friendship, hard work, and most importantly love for his family and friends. If you were one of those people he loved, one of those people who lived this life with him, you were one of the lucky ones. 41 years of his life was spent with his loving and devoted wife Brenda Parsons (nee Rowsell) whom he adored and who never strayed from his side. A love that was bold, enduring, patient and true right to the end. His will to live was something to be admired. An avid fisherman whether in his boat on the bay or finding serenity on the salmon river in Pinsent Falls, hunting at his “old shack” in Millertown, feeling the freedom riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle or meticulously keeping his garden, talking to each of his trees and crows daily. The Toronto Maple Leafs have now lost one of their biggest fans. Recently his body was finally feeling his 82 years though his mind surely thought he was still a young man. His strength and will to live in the face of adversity was something we will forever admire.
Predeceased by his parents, Richard Harvey Parsons Sr. and Annie Parsons (nee Morgan), beloved brother and bandmate Robert (Bob) Parsons whom he admired and adored, as well as his three young brothers, Andrew, John and little Donnie his best friend and a loss he never recovered from. Also predeceased by Father-in-law Rev. Frederick Rowsell and special son-in-law Derrick Newhook.
Left with the happiest and loving memories and a void that could never be filled, his wife Brenda Parsons, daughter Megan Parsons (Chris St. Croix), darling granddaughters whom he cherished Caroline and Annie Parsons-Dawe and their father Peter Dawe. Daughters Beverly Ann Parsons (Cam) and Lisa Gullage (Bob), grandchildren Fallon and Christian Gullage and great-grandson Myles Gullage.
Also leaving to mourn with the heaviest of hearts, a special gift to Rick, his adoring Son whom he recently connected with and idolized, “that my boy, my boy” as Rick would say, Robert Dean Wade (Dean) and wife Darlene, Delaware USA. Rick didn’t only gain his son but also three grandchildren Gabrielle Harris (Ryan), Jon Wade and Jessica Mullan (Robert) and new great granddaughter Mackenzie Grace Mullan. Dean and his family are a light in our lives that we didn’t realize we needed and are so grateful to have found.
Leaving to mourn special sister Shirley Furey, Scott and Terry Parsons and their families, mother-in-law: Isabel Rowsell, sister-in-law: Elizabeth Rowsell, special nephew: Christian and family and a large circle of nieces, nephews, special cousin Bernie Morgan, extended family, friends and past and present bandmates especially, Eddie Mahoney and Bruce Cromwell.
He was the patriarch of our family and idolized by many throughout the town of CBS. A generous man who donated much of his time and talents to those in need over his 60+ year music career and did it with the happiest of hearts as recognized by awards such as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, which he was the recipient of in winter 2013. An award merited for “exemplifying an ideal of service and dignity that we appreciate as rare and precious.” He was so proud. He greeted each new day as a blessing. His infectious laugh and positivity will be forever adored. If the people in this emulated the patience, positivity and kindness that Rick did, the world would truly be a better place. He was such a big presence felt by so many, his loss is insurmountable.
