Please be advised that due to weather conditions, the funeral service scheduled for 11:00 today will be postponed until 12:00 today at the Salvation Army Corps, Long Pond CBS.

William Herbert Wiscombe (Herb) passed peacefully away at the age of 72 years on December 28th, 2025, in St. John’s, NL, surrounded by his loving family.

Herb was a hardworking man, a carpenter by trade, who could do just about anything you, asked. He worked many jobs over the years and was especially fond of his time at First General Property Restoration. He showed his love in acts of service for his family and friends, teaching them tips and tricks. Herb looked forward to his annual salmon trip to Labrador and Saturday afternoons in the shed. When he wasn’t busy working or doing odd jobs for others, he could be found in the shed next to a freshly lit fire, enjoying a “herb”, a bag of Hawkins ‘ Cheezies and a few Jube Jubes.

Herb is predeceased by his mother and father: Susan and Herbert, his brothers: Sam and Lou, his sisters: Diane and Mary, mother-in-law: Theresa and brother-in-law: Bob.

Leaving to mourn his wife: Brenda, children: Bob (Krista), Lori (Mark), and Adam (Sarah), grandchildren: Emily (Cody), Alex (Makayla), and Payton, his brother: Steve (Barb), and sisters: Donna, Aggie (Dave), and Paula (Gary), brothers-in-law: Paul (Joanne), Fabian (Cathy), Brian (Panawatda) and sister-in law: Janet (Bill). Also, Herbert is survived by many nieces, nephews, and a large circle of close friends.

 The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Grenning, Dr. Fox, Dr. Siddiqui, and Dr. Cameron, as well as the nurses of the Cancer Care Clinic and 4 North A, for the excellent care provided during Herb’s illness. The family is also deeply grateful to the paramedics, ERTs, and the doctors and nurses of the HSC Emergency Department for their compassion, professionalism, and kindness.

Visitation in Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South Tuesday, December 30th, 2025 from 3-7pm. Funeral Service on Monday, January 5th, 2026 in the Salvation Army Corps, Long Pond at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Readers Hill, Conception Bay South.
