Our beloved husband, father, Poppy, brother, and friend, Walter James Seward passed away peacefully in the presence of his adoring wife Debbie, sister Susan and daughter Nicole on January 8th, 2026. He was 74 years old. After years living with Frontotemporal Dementia, he is finally at peace.

Born April 10th, 1951 in New Perlican, Walt spent his childhood years there before moving to Corner Brook, then Toronto, returning to New Perlican and starting a family. Walt worked for the Canadian Coast Guard for 28 years, and spent the last 30 years living happily in Conception Bay South surrounded by devoted family and friends. 

Walt leaves to mourn his wife of 29 years, Debbie Seward, his sons Terry, Robert (Nicole) and daughter Nicole (Anthony), treasured grandchildren Cora, Ryan, Henrylee, Nias, Eli and Evelyn, siblings Joyce (Don), Everett (Carolann) and Susan (Ray), longtime best friend Terry Bryant (Lisa) and too many loving extended family and friends to list. 

He is predeceased by his two moms Lydia and Elizabeth, father James, and siblings Olive, Marina, Max, Reg, Harry and Marilyn. 

Walt was a prodigious musician, instrument maker, artist, and woodworker, and had never-ending kindness and knowledge to share with his loved ones. He loved to hike, vacationing with Debbie, Sherry and Kevin, and spending time in nature. He will be forever missed.
