It is with sorrow and sweet remembrance that the family of Willard Maxwell Bailey, age 91 years, announce his peaceful passing on January 18th, 2026, at Pleasant View Towers, St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Willard was born in New Chelsea, Trinity Bay on August 14th, 1934. There he shared his beautiful family with his wife Bernice. Willard took great pride in his family. He loved being out in nature fishing, setting vegetable gardens or raising chickens and goats. He especially enjoyed being in the woods cutting wood and having a good boil up.

Willard and Bernice moved to Foxtrap, Conception Bay South in 1975 where he resided until he moved into long term care.

Willard is predeceased by his beloved wife Bernice Bailey, his parents Isabel and Clarence Bailey and his brothers Isreal Bailey (Jim) and Hedley Buckle.

Willard is lovingly remembered by his children Verna White (Claude), Clarence Bailey (Tammy) Carl Bailey, Melissa Hiscock (Rob). Willard is also fondly remembered by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and brothers and sisters-in-laws, all of whom cherished his quiet strength and steady presence.

The family extends sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of 3 North West at Pleasant View Towers, St. John’s, Newfoundland for their compassionate care and kindness.

Visitation will take place in Hickeys Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South, on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026, from 3pm – 7pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Salvation Army CBS Corp on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, at 10am. The service will be live streamed. Burial to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery in New Chelsea, Newfoundland.
