Isabel Rose Rowsell Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, the matriarch of our family, Isabel Rose Rowsell (nee Meadus) in her 97th year on February 8th, 2026 with her devoted family by her side.

Preceded by her husband: Reverend Frederick R. Rowsell, parents: Jane and Henry Meadus, 7 brothers: Charles (Lucy), George (Valetta), Lewellyn (Vina), Harry (Joyce), Clarence (Katherine), Obediah (Marcie), Dougald (Olive) and 4 sisters: Maude (Arthur), Suzannah (Wesley), Louise (Thomas) and Phyllis (Jack). Also predeceased by special son- in- law: Richard Parsons Jr. whom she adored as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Leaving to mourn with adoring memories are her two loving daughters: Elizabeth Rowsell and Brenda Parsons (nee Rowsell). Grandchildren: Christian Rowsell (Dana) and Megan Parsons (Chris), great grandchildren: Andrew Mohammed-Rowsell, Noah Rowsell and Caroline and Annie Parsons-Dawe; the lights of great-nanny’s life, her little angels. Also leaving to mourn great-great-granddaughter: Raina Mohammed. A very large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends are left to mourn as well as Isabels special home care workers: Genny, Madison, Rose-Mary and Kim whose help and devotion to her over the last 3 years was unlike any other. She adored you all!

Isabel was a well accomplished woman who prided herself in those accomplishments. She was a primary school teacher of 30 years, a career she loved and excelled in, she adored her students, always. She was a devoted minister’s wife and the founder of the Junior Auxiliary (JA) in Upper Island Cove which still runs today. Her volunteer work in the church and community was felt wherever she was. She could cook, clean, garden and entertain with the very best. She lived an active, wholesome life, loving to fish and play cards and enjoyed traveling abroad with groups of friends in her retired years. She never missed an opportunity to be present for her family and was the staple of many a celebration among us. She was loved by all who had the honour of knowing her. We cherished her. Her loss is a great one.

A special heartfelt thanks to the paramedics, doctors and nurses at the HSC ER for their outstanding care of our sweet Isabel in her final hours both in hospital and at home. As well as to Rev. Parsons, Rev. Strong and Robert Clarke for their prayers.
