Edna Warford Obituary

Edna Warford passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, with her family by her side. While the loss is deeply felt by our family, we celebrate her happy and contented 95 years of life.

Edna moved from Long Pond to Upper Gullies in 1951 and spent the years sharing a life with her husband, Cecil. She raised their family, tended the gardens, enjoyed trips around the bay, weekend excursions in their camper van, square dancing, and a good game of cards. Edna was a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Church, where she was a member of the altar guild and ACW. She baked untold numbers of cakes and cookies for bake sales and knitted through scads of wool for socks and mitts.

Edna lived her life with grace and quiet dignity. She was devoted to her faith, dedicated to her husband, to her family, and to her home. Edna was the kind of person others wanted to be around. In a crowd or at an event she was where people would gather. She was a humble person, never chasing status or material gain. In growing up through hard times during the Great Depression, Edna learned the value of thrift and never wasted money on frivolous things. An entire century of change unfolded around her, and the world was transformed— but not Edna. She kept to her comforts and guarded a sense of stability and peace for those close to her. She regularly expressed appreciation for her life and family, and her many years of health and good fortune.

Edna is predeceased by her husband Cecil, the love of her life for 73 years, parents Jim and Pearl (Scott) Rideout, stepmother Florence (Morgan), sisters Dora and Jean, brothers Reginald and Clayton. Left with loving memories are her children Jim (Sharon), John (Peggy), brother Merv (Barbara), sister-in-law Eva, grandchildren Erica (John), Alyssa (Frankie), Ian, Stephen (Deanna); great - grandchildren Parker, Romee, Randy, Everett and Harrison, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank Edna’s caregivers, the staff at Heritage Square in Long Pond, and Chancellor Park in St. John’s and especially Tina for her loving home care. Your kindness and compassion will long be remembered.
