My work here on earth is done and I leave it in your capable hands to carry on.  


It is with broken hearts but immense love that we announce the passing of a loving Husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, Brother-In-Law, Uncle and friend to many, Thomas (Tom) Kieley of Kelligrews at the age of 86 years.  


Tom is predeceased by his Parents, Patrick and Mary Kieley, Sister Anne Kieley-Ryan, brothers Pat, Eddie (Stephanie and Perry) and Jerome.  Parents-In-Law, Sgt. Ned and Eliza Nugentand Sister-In-Law Mary Stapleton (Vince).


Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 65 years Elizabeth (Betty), his loving children, Son Don (Tracy), Daughters Corinne, Dianne and Donna (Stephen) and dearly loved Grandson Christopher (Shannon, Jordyn), Granddaughters Jessica and Jamie (Chris) and Great-Grandson Karter.  Also mourning are his loving sisters, Josephine Drodge (Bob), Mary Helen Fewer, Jenny Hardy, Liz Lewis (Dave), Lorraine Scott (Mike), Theresa Evans (Leo). Sisters-in-law Joyce and Marguerite Kieley, Joan Murray and Anita Nugent.  Brother-In-Law Edward Nugent.  A large number of special nieces and nephews. As well as many extended family and friends too many to mention.


Tom dedicated 46 years working for Golden Eagle Oil Refinery in Holyrood, later known as Ultramar and retired in 2007.  Tomwas heavily involved in many sports, recreation and organizations since moving to CBS in 1960.  He eagerly gave 100% of his time, energy and passion to many community sporting groups or committees either by participating or volunteering.  Tom was President of the Holy Spirit School Hockey, later known as CBS Minor Hockey League were he also held the position of Coach for the Juvenile B and Midget C hockey teams.  He also organized Referee Clinics for the CBS Referee Association.  Tom held various positions in different organizations such as a Member of the Kiwanis Club of Kelligrews, Member and Grand Knight of the Holy Spirit Council of the Knights of Columbus, Chairman of the St. Edward’s School PTA and St. Edward’s Church Parish Council, President of the NL RV Club, Torch Bearer for the CBS Summer Games in 2016 and served an eight year term as a CBS Town Council Ward 3 Councillor of which the last two years was as Deputy Mayor.  


Tom proudly dedicated many years of his life in CBS and in 2022 was inducted into the CBS Hall of Fame as a Builder along with in 2025 being presented with by the Member of Parliament Avalon the King Charles III Coronation Medal.  


For many years Dad and Mom enjoyed their 65 years together travelling to various parts of Canada visiting family and friends.  Spending time at their cabin on Colinet Road before selling it and taking to the RV camping lifestyle covering many kilometers around NL.  They spent a few winters in Pinellas Park, Florida and in recent years they decided to find a permanent home for the RV and became a resident of the Destination RV Resort, Avondale which was their Happy Place.  They were welcomed there by numerous people who have become very close friends to them.  They loved everyone and had many good times over the last 5 years.  From milestone birthdays, their 65th Anniversary and all activities at the campground, they were treated like Royalty.  The memories will never be forgotten.  


Tom had an amazing Medical team.  Special mention to his family physician, Dr. Aguilar who went above and beyond over the years.


Visitation will be in Hickey's Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South, on Friday, February 13th from 4 pm to 7 pm and on Saturday, February 14th from 2 pm to 7 pm.  Funeral service will be held in Hickey’s Memorial Chapel on Sunday, February 15th at 11:00 am. Followed by Internment in St. Edward’s Cemetery, Pond Road, Kelligrews.
