The family of Michael Woodford is deeply saddened to announce his passing on February 24th, 2026, at the age of 94 years old.

Michael is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Margaret (nee Ezekiel); his son Gerard (Theresa) and daughter Michele (Bill); grandchildren Nicole (Kyle), Danielle (Dylon), Dylan and Ashley (Robert); sister Mary Brophy (John) and sister-in-law Eileen Healey (Tom); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and long-time neighbours the Doran family.

Michael is pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Theresa Woodford, brothers Phil (Josephine), John, Aiden (Mary), Leonard (Joyce), Monsignor Richard Woodford, sister Isabelle; parents-in-law Frank and Mary Ezekiel; and deceased members of the Ezekiel family.

Michael lived a life filled with compassion, resilience and unwavering dedication to his family, extended family at Woodford’s Comfort Manor and his community.  He was known for his generosity, kind spirit and tireless advocacy for the elderly and impacted the lives of countless people in health care, municipal governance and in every job he held over the years.

He had a deep love for music, which filled his home and brought joy to those around him. Whether listening to his favorite songs or sharing them with family and friends, music was one of the many ways he connected with others.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home and St. Clare’s General hospital, as well as family physician Dr. Paul Walsh and the public health nursing staff at NL Health Services in Holyrood for their exceptional care and support.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation in Hickey's Funeral Home, 294 Conception Bay Highway, Holyrood, NL, on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and on Sunday, March 1st, 2026, from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral Service at Holy Cross Church, Holyrood, on Monday, March 2nd, 2026, at 11:00am.  Interment to follow at a later date. Reception to follow at Royal Canadian Legion, Holyrood.
