Marilyn Bishop Obituary
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Sylvia (Ivany) Bishop aged 72, of Upper Gullies at her home surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was a remarkable woman whose life was rooted in love, strength and the simple joys of nature. She fought her illness the way she lived her life, with strength, courage and bravery. She faced each day with positivity.
Marilyn was born in Lower Lance Cove, Random Island. Lived there with her parents and siblings until she moved to CBS where she met Rendell, married in 1976, and raised their family. She is predeceased by her parents Reginald and Edna Ivany, and her parents-in-law Herbert and Edith Bishop.
Leaving to mourn with loving memories her husband Rendell, daughters Karen (Robert), Melissa (Greg), and Penny (Jason), grandchildren Brandon (Caroline), Nathan, Chantelle, Gavin and Evan, great-grandsons Jackson and Bentley, brothers Les (Betty) and Austin (Rosena), and sisters Cavell (Boyd) and Janice (Jeff). Brother in-laws Ernest (Beth), Lester (Andrea), Brent (Linda), nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends.
Marilyn spent her whole life caring for others. Even during her illness, when asked about herself she would always reply with ‘I am doing good’ or ‘nothing wrong with me’ and quickly change the focus to others. She worked caring for children and at personal care homes where she made many connections with the residents and their families.
For many years she dedicated herself as a leader for the Girl Guide of Canada, guiding and shaping the lives of many young people. Through camps and adventures she created lasting memories where she touched the lives of many and was loved and respected.
Marilyn loved her time at her and Rendell’s cabin in Colinet where they always welcomed family and friends for a card game or a friendly chat. Her truest passion was her grandchildren and she could often be found fishing at the pond with them. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and friends.
Special Thanks to Dr. Oliver Holmes, Dr. Stewart Rorke, Dr. Jonathan Greenland, Dr. John Adams, and all the staff nurses and support staff of Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center.
