Lucy Saunders Obituary
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Lucy Saunders who died on April 4th 2026, at the age of 68 years. She passed away surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lucy was born on April 10th, 1957, in St. Anthony and lived a life rooted in family and the outdoors. She was a devoted mother and a proud, loving grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids. Lucy had a deep love for fishing and gardening, and she felt most at peace surrounded by nature, especially home in Labrador. At home, she was rarely still. Lucy enjoyed sewing, tending to her garden, and creating a warm, welcoming space for those she loved. Whether she was out on the water, in the woods, or at her sewing table, she put care and heart into everything she did.
Lucy is survived by her children: Jennifer (Jonathan), Tyler (Felicia); cherished grandchildren: Lucca, Mason, Norah, Emily, Eric, Eric, Emma; spouse: Dave; stepdaughter: Renee (Denielle); brother: Leroy: sisters: Joan and Joy (Jack); and many family members and friends who will miss her deeply. She was predeceased by her beloved father: Clyde; mother: Mae; brothers: Kevin and Barry; nephew: Aiden.
Lucy will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, her devotion to her family, and her easy-going nature. Her love lives on in the family she built and the memories she leaves behind.
The family would like to thank the Cancer Team and the Miller Centre for all of their kindness and support. She will be forever loved and deeply missed. As per Lucy’s request, cremation has taken place, and ashes will be scattered in Cape Charles, Labrador.
Visitation in Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South, on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. Funeral Service in Hickey’s Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026, at 1:30pm.
