Barbara Hiscock Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the sudden passing of Barb Hiscock (Nee Griffiths) wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister, who passed peacefully away on June 15th, 2026.

Barb was predeceased by her parents: David and Mary Griffiths and Oscar and Doris Hiscock, her sister: Regina, brother: Kevin, sister-in-law: Shirley, brother-in-law: James Kennedy.

Barb was an exceptional, caring, and strong person who dearly loved her family. She was the problem solver and extended herself in any way possible to help her family.

As a devoted mother, Barb raised her children with unwavering love, patience and endless support. She was a guiding light who taught her family the value of hard work, compassion and togetherness.

Barb spent her career working at RBC, Main Branch St. John’s, where she worked for at least 30 years and later with Stantec Engineering where she was a hard-working valued employee. Barb loved to spend time at their cabin. The last resort with her family she named. She loved to bake and cook, and she excelled in knitting and doing crafts, always giving these precious foods and goods to her family, neighbors and anyone who dropped by.

Barb leaves to mourn her loving husband of 53 years: Paul Hiscock. They met in their early teens on Topsail Beach where Paul swept her off her feet. Barb’s lessons and her warm, generous spirits will be carried on by her children and grandchildren: OJ (Lori), OJ’s children: Megan and Laura, Jeffrey (Justine) and their children: Araya, Luke, Alena and Leigha. All of whom she adored.

She also leaves to mourn the following: her brother: Dave (Vicki) and their children: Steve (Corinna), Sam (Danielle), Rachel, Cody (Hannah) and Sarah (Terry), Karl (Teena), Ben (Lauren), Kate and Colin. Her sisters: Carmel (Gerry), Dot and her children: Jason (Melanie), Ruby, Rosey and Jessica (Robby), nephew: David (Jackie), Madelyn and Braden, niece: Heather (Dennis), brothers-in-law: Siegfried Staubitzer (Regina, deceased), Dieter (Tina), Max (Kate), Mya (Gwen), Chris (Karen), Peter (Irene), David (Sydney), Robert (Dale) and Ashley, sisters-in-law: Janet Hiscock (Jim Kennedy, deceased), Jonathan (Trista), Claire, Agnes  Hart (Dave), Shelley (Gerry), Gabe, Joel and Elijah, Krista (Darin), Ava and Sophie, Davey (Lesley).

She also loved OJ and Lori’s furry friends: Max Lincoln, Charlie and Zoe.

Special thanks to Dr. Dave Hart who made many home visits to Barb and made himself available at any time.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral as per Barb’s wishes. A Celebration of Life will follow later for friends and family.
