Our beloved mother and grandmother, Noreen Anne Tilley, passed away peacefully after a short illness, on June 16, 2026, at the age of 75.

She was preceded in death by our father, Douglas Norman Tilley, her sister Elizabeth Smith, her brother Sandy Clarke and brother-in-law Aubrey Gosse.

More than anything, she loved being a mother. Her four children; Robert, David (Andrea), Douglas (Jill) and Kate (Mark) were, by her measure, her greatest achievements. She loved them fiercely and without condition, and that love shaped every part of her life.

Once her grandchildren came, her love, that seemed already impossibly large, grew to embrace Nathan, Owen, Nina and Jack.

She was the heart and soul of our family, and her loss is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her siblings Sandra (Bill), Mike (Janet), Tom (Donna), Janet (Roger) and Greg (Sheila). There are too many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews to name here, but she cherished them as if they were her own children. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Gosse (Eugene) as well as her two beloved cats: Daniel, who will miss her cuddles and Max who will now need to find someone else to share their yogurt with him.

She looked past people's flaws and saw the good in everyone. Her example of unconditional love and acceptance is one that we should all remember and strive to make a part of our own lives. She was happiest being surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories, laughter and many cups of tea and was the benevolent matriarch of our family, making sure that everyone held together, even when separated by oceans.

Our family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Health Sciences Centre for not only their excellent care for our mom, but also their kindness and patience for us during that incredibly difficult time.

As per her wishes, she will be cremated and put to rest at the All Saints Anglican Cemetery next to our father.

There will be a visitation at Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South on Saturday, June 20th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gathering Place.
