Katherine Corbett Obituary

Katherine “Kathy” Bridget Corbett (née Murray)

Kathy was born on September 3rd, 1960, the first of three girls for Edward and Kay Murray. She met and fell in love with her beloved husband, Don Corbett, in high school.  Their partnership, commitment, and boundless adoration of one another was the foundation of her life. She was a kind, selfless, extraordinary mother. Her children and grandchildren brought her endless joy and laughter. Kathy spent many years of her life helping, caring and tending to the needs of others as a Registered Nurse. Her compassion was evident in the founding of her Comfort in Care program in 2005. She was an intellectual and spiritual thinker, who not only enjoyed her books and her studies, but was always searching for the deeper meaning in every day life. She loved her hometown of Holyrood fiercely. She was a generous and gracious woman, who had an excellent eye for design and loved to make plans - she was truly beautiful inside and out. Her family will miss the one that held them all together more than words can say. Left with broken hearts, her devoted husband Don, her children Kate (David), Murray (Shaunna), and Edward (Makayla). Her cherished grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaia, Elaine, Grace and Mallory, will miss their doting “nanny.” Her sister, Edwina (Denny, Stacey, John), will miss her best friend. Her heart was our home, her kindness was our comfort.

She also leaves behind her sister Cecilia (George), many wonderful friends, and extended loving family.

“No one is spared both the wondrous mystery and the confusing pathos of life’s complexity. .... the mystery of life is infinitely bigger than what we are comfortable with most of the time. Our pathological complexity presses us toward ever greater light....understanding and accepting that truth can help us forgive each other - and then forgive ourselves. “   Ronald Rolheiser

There will be a private ceremony at Hickey's Funeral Home on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 and a public “celebration of life” will follow at 3pm at The Hat Lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Health Care Foundation's Comfort in Care program, or to a charity of one's choice.
