Our Dear Uncle Gus Our momma’s little brother. I first met him when he was a soldier in the Korean War. I was a toddler when he came to Winnipeg to visit mom. He was so handsome. I remember waking him up singing ‘old soldiers never die, they just fade away’. I also remember unrolling his puttees down the stairs. I heard more than once ‘ j***** Hazel, can’t you do something with this little girl?’ A life time of memories, joy and laughter, stories and tears. Normy and I would visit and remember stories with him.♥️☕️

My Mom (Effie) shared this story of her beloved little brother Gus this morning... “I remember when we were youngsters how Gus would ask me to read the comic books to him. This was before Gus was old enough to go to school and he so loved comic books. When I would either refuse or skip over a few pages he would threaten to tell on me for something. Set a course I read the comics to him. “ How she loved her brother. My Dad Henry also had a special bond with his brother-in-law Gus. What cherished memories.
David(Denise) and Diane , So sorry for the loss of your dad. Mr Taylor was a very dear and gentle man. It was a pleasure to have gotten to know him over the past few years. Sorry to hear of Uncle Gus's passing. A good many memories of life growing up included him. He could see things and then cut and weld them until they were actually real things, useful things. He worked hard his whole life, and the hours he and my father put in when they worked together was a source of wonder to me - until I saw it I didn't know people could work that hard. He loved his family and gave them everything he had to give. If hard work, love of family, respect for and from others can be used as the measure of a man then Gus Taylor measured up real well.
