It was with great sadness that Judy and I learned of Uncle Gordon's passing. I share my brother Max's feelings of the great memories of Uncle Gordon and his family coming to visit us in Grand Falls and camping at Beothuck Park. We always had a great time when they visited in the summer. Also, ever summer that I can remember as a child and teenager we made a trip to Manuals and we always had a great time playing with our Smith cousins and visiting Uncle Gordon and Aunt Edith. I certainly can appreciate grandson Michael's memories of TNNP as Judy and I visited Uncle Gordon and Aunt Edith several times when they were camping there and always spent a few very enjoyable hours in their company. I can still remember sitting in their trailer having a mug up and snack! They certainly enjoyed their times at TNNP. Uncle Gordon was a great man, always pleasant and happy and just fun to be around. We always felt welcomed at his house and looked forward to our visits. And as I told grandson Andrew, I honestly don't know if he could have had a better grandfather. Uncle Gordon lived a long and happy life, had a great family and was much loved by all. For me personally it is difficult as he is the last uncle, he will certainly be missed. My mother who passed last summer always spoke with great fondness of the times she and Uncle Gordon had growing up. Please accept our sincere condolences.

Sorry to hear of Uncle Gordon's passing. I have good memories of Uncle Gord coming to visit Grand Falls-Windsor camping at Beothuck Park when we were kids. I have always known him to be a gentle person, fun to be around someone you could always count on. He was like this from the time I can remember. If my mother Edith was alive today she would be pretty sad. Mom and her brother have always been close even though they lived in different towns for most of their lives. Thankfully they were able to spend more time together when mom and dad moved back to CBS in 1989. My brothers and I have great memories of playing with our Smith cousins when we were young. Thinking of you all at this time. Max and Wendy Houllhan Grand Falls-Windsor

My best memories of Pop were as a young boy driving to Terra Nova National Park (TNNP). We did not have tablets or phones to keep us entertained then, but that was not a problem as Pop sang to us pretty much the whole way out. He would sing about whatever he seen, whether it be a song the he was reminded of or just something he would make up. We would pass a bay and he would start singing “down by the bay”, or he would see two big trees and sing “between two trees”, then he would throw something in about the weather like “grey foggy day”. Pop loved spending his summers in TNNP with his family and many friends and I am very proud to have shared some of those memories with him, as I feel this was his happy place. In 2002, while I was spending the weekend visiting Nan and Pop in TNNP, I met the most beautiful, amazing girl I had ever seen in my life. Little did I know at the time, she would become my future wife and we would have two amazing boys. I thank Pop for the long-lasting roots that have been set in TNNP and I will keep those roots going as this is now my happy place too. My family will enjoy many more memories at the park because of the traditions started by Pop and I will constantly be reminded of some of my favourite memories from my childhood. There will always be a camp site with your name on it in TNNP. Rest easy Pop Love Michael, Danielle, Aiden and Keegan Gosse
