Kelly, Cody, Anna & Marie, while I would have done my very best to be back in Newfoundland with you at this time with Mom's passing in the same week such was not to be the case, sadness at CBS, sadness in SFX. I consider it an honour to have been able to have spent time with Paul, its easy to see he was much loved and well thought of by many. Even when he was unwell and just shortly after a brief return to work I had inquired of him while he was giving me a tour of ECRC where they got the bags for storage of equipment for the rapid attack boats, as I had a need for some for the fire department. True to Paul's nature he did the research and e-mailed me the information even though I didn't want to bother him with such a trivial issue, none the less the task was completed,true to his word. I was fortunate enough to have had the pleasure of spending some time on two trips to NFLD and then having had Paul, Kelly and the kids visit Marie and I twice in Winnipeg, some very memorable times they were. A lot of time in life we never tell those whom have touched us what we think or feel until its too late. Being in the fire service I have witnessed a lot of grieving and sad times, some face death and dying with the utmost in dignity, positivity and embrace the ultimate courage in taking the high road to spare others the anguish, such was Paul's choice and I admired him greatly for that. Rest easy my loyal friend for the battle you waged was courageous up till the end. My favorite passage at a time of sorrow is Footprints. Until we may be able to walk down the beach on the hot sands once more safe passage, we will see one another in due time. Kelly and Marie, this past 30 some days has been extremely difficult for us all. For the Lord to call home both Paul and Mom in the same week is asking quite a lot. Two very special people in our hearts 2300 miles apart. Life sometimes is very cruel and sometimes twice in a lifetime seems crueler yet, yet we are not alone, all around us we have good people to support, nurture and care for us and we will get through, we will never forget or lose the wonderful memories both happy and sad but time has a way of healing us one day at a time. Through this all I have constantly thought of you and the journey you were on, conflicting feelings on loyalty didn't make the decisions made any easier. Paul is in a peaceful place now and at rest, our memories are everlasting and that we treasure never really fades away. May God Bless you all. Love and Hugs Brian
