Tyler was extremely intelligent but he was reluctant to let this be known, possibly for fear that he would be labelled a "brain" by his classmates. He was always a pleasure to have in my classes.

To Tyler's family: Please allow us here at Sheppard Case Architects to express our sincerest condolences to you at Tyler's passing. I worked numerous construction projects with Tyler and I can say without reservation that he was the most sincere and amiable contractor with whom I have ever dealt. Tyler went out of his way because he wanted a quality job. His legacy is that he raised the standard for the execution of construction contracts and did so in the way of a perfect gentleman and consummate professional. He will be truly missed.

We first spoke to Tyler when he went to work @ Eastern Contracting, Wayne always spoke very highly of him & said that young Tyler is gonna go a long way, & a long way he did. The first time I actually met him in person, he came to our house to look at a see doo, he had Maddison in his arms & a gift for our first grand daughter Claire who turned 10 the same day August 14 as Tyler turned 38 He was one of the finest young men we had the pleasure of knowing, he had a big heart, a wonderful business man, but most important a family man! He loved his children dearly & also lit up when he spoke of you Carly! He was taken way to soon but he will never be forgotten!

I am Tylers cousin Stephen. It was about 6 years ago when visiting Newfoundland for the first time since I was a child that I got to spend some time with Tyler. I will never forget how welcoming Tyler and the rest of my family were. The thing that struck me most about Tyler was how great he was at being a father. My wife Carla was expecting our first child at the time and I really came to understand how much a father can love his children at that time. Tyler's spirit will live on in the way he has been a great father and example to others like me.

I just shared a story of how Tyler took a townie boy under his arm to show me the love of the outdoors (and stewed wieners). I worked for and with Tyler since 2005. On numerous occassions the two of us would have to drive to job sites out of town. We would talk about everything from work to cabins and life in general, but our conversations always came around to talking about our family's and particularly our girls. This mans life was centered around two beautiful, sweet girls, and later opening his life and heart to two more beautiful girls. If a measure of a man is his love of life and family, then let me tell you this guy is huge. I love knowing and having had Tyler in my life. Sheldon Flynn

My husband Paul and I met Tyler but once in passing several years ago as his younger sister Tammy is a dear friend to us. So, in fact, we have no real or enduring memory of Tyler directly ourselves. What we do have are memories of a little sister who spoke so highly of her big brother - who loved him very much - and who loves his children more than any auntie could. Our hearts break for the Baldwin family - but Tyler must have surely known the deep devotion and love that surrounded him. We knew it, and could feel it, without ever knowing him. Love and healing to you all now - and as you carry on. Andrea and Paul.

Anyone who knows Tyler will tell you that he loved the outdoors. Be it out on the quad, ski-do, boat, moose hunting or fishing. My story is about when several of the guys went to Smith Sound during the food fishery.
This was my first trip out fishing. Tyler is two years younger than I am but I think he thought of me as his little townie and wanted to share all the great experiences there are around the bay. We arrived at Petley, on Random Island, and headed down the sound. We reached the cabin, unloaded our gear and being a beautiful bright and calm evening we decided to go catch a few fish. It was around 10 o'clock, the moon was lighting our way on the bay, and the boys were almost as lit up as the moon. Now I was the only one who doesn't drink, so I was embracing the moment and loving it. Poor old Tyler, all he was concerned about was me. He kept saying, "I'm okay. I know what I'm doing. I had a few beer, but I'm okay. I know where we are."
Meanwhile, back at the cabin, the boys had a pot of spuds and onions on the stove for when we returned with a meal of fish for the night. Tyler caught a nice size fish, however his reflexes were a little off and he lost it. I think we caught one sorry sized cod, but had to keep it to go in the pot. There was barely enough fish to feed a cat. So someone had the bright idea to add a couple cans of wieners to the pot. What memories, a moon lit night on the bay and stewed wieners.
