Dear Kim and Janessa, we are so sorry to hear of Russells passing, he will sure be missed by all who ever met him. Some people have a way of filling up a room when they enter it and Russell was sure one of those people. Russell was the kind of person you don't forget. Please know our thoughts are with you and we know in the days ahead you will miss him but we are thinking about you both and know he sure left an impression on all who ever met him. I am so sorry to hear of Russell’s passing last week. Although I only got to spend a short week with him he was truly a joy to be around. He will be missed and I send my prayers to you that you may find comfort and peace in this difficult time. Nicole Hemmings

Kim and Jenisa, So often over the past days our thoughts have gone back to the days when you were our neighbours in Inuvik. So many fun nights spent on your deck under the midnight sun (in the bug tent) or in your house during the coldest arctic nights enjoying yummy food prepared by Russell. His wit and friendship made everyone who visited your house feel so welcome. Having him as a colleague was also such a pleasure, Russell was always a team player. If someone needed help in another department he was often the first to notice and would step in to lend a hand when he could. So sad, so sad … he will be missed by many - Russell made a mark in many people’s lives. We will be thinking of you often as you struggle through your grief and wish we could reach across the miles to hug you.
There are no words for how you feel. We offer prayers that your family will be strong together so no one feels alone. We hope that you find comfort in your memories and in each other.
Russell worked in Inuvik for a while with me and was someone who always made those round him laugh. It was especially good to have someone like that around during the famous Arctic Night that goes on for a month up here. I will never forget the New Year's eve party that we shared at the Legion. It was so much fun. Still can see Russell with the hat on and enjoying himself. Always seemed to be having a blast. He was really a ray of sunshine for everyone. We will miss you Russell. Can't believe you are gone.

Joe and I were just talking a while ago about the week leading up to our wedding. The fun everyone had sitting outside, BBQing, sharing stories, a few drinks and lots of laughs. Russell took over being the chief cook of the BBQ and his food was enjoyed by all. The fun we had at Upper Clements Park, and celebrating the millenium New Years Eve with you guys. Russell always had a big smile and was usually chuckling about something. We still can't believe that he's gone. Remember the wonderful memories and the great adventures Russell shared with not only his family but also so many others. His life will live on through others and the times that have been spent with him. We will never forget you Russell.
