Obituary of Elizabeth Ruby Bursey

Bursey, Elizabeth (Betty) Ruby (Pennell) Passed peacefully away on June 13 with her family at her side, her favourite way of doing everything, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Reuben and Enid. Leaving to mourn loving husband Bill, sons Greg (Jeannette), Rod (Georgina), daughter Cherie (Rod Cable), grandchildren Mitchell, Gillian, Tori, Tyra, sisters Elaine Summers (Boyd), and Judy Pennell (Jim), and many other relatives and friends, all of which had a special place in her life. Special thank you to Dr. Joy McCarthy for her many years of care and support, Dr. Pradip Ganguly, and the whole cancer care team at the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre. You all made a rough road much easier to travel. She appreciated every kind word and gesture. Betty had a special way with people that were very close to her for years and for some who had only met her for a few moments. She was always more concerned for others than herself and had to make sure that the special events in their lives were celebrated. She found great fun and friendship in her Mary Kay family. She was known to some by "Bee bee", but the name she loved the most was Nana. Her kind and gentle nature will live on forever in everyone she touched. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Wednesday, 10-12, 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Thursday 10-12 noon. Funeral service in All Saint's Anglican Church, Foxtrap on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 2 pm. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Dunn's Hill Road, Foxtrap. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or donations to her memory to the charity of her choice. Some of her favourites included the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, Ronald McDonald House NL, and All Saints Anglican Church Renovation Fund.
