Obituary of Sgt (Ret'd) Thomas Garrett Kavanagh
Sgt (Ret’d) Thomas Garrett Kavanagh, CD
Passed away unexpectedly on 31 Oct, 2019. Predeceased by his beautiful granddaughter Alyssa “Sunshine” Davis in Dec 2015.
Gary leaves behind with broken hearts; his loving wife and best friend of 52 years Shirley (nee Jackman), his children Sherree- Lin (Brian), Gary (Maddy), and Cory (Zoe).
Blessed to have such a loving, compassionate role model for a Granddad are Tyler (TJ), Jhessi, Meghann and Tristan, who will miss his singing, dancing, sarcastic jokes and loving hugs.
There will be no more morning kisses and daily chats with GG for Anton and Caden; waffles will never be the same.
Gary also leaves behind special nephew Pat Kelly and his wife Sharon, along with brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gary left his home at the age of 18 to join the Air Force, where he spent the next 25 years travelling the world with his family, inspiring their love for travel, the unknown and country music. He retired from the Regular Force in 1988 only to join the Primary Reserves 2 years later, serving another 16 years with the Air Cadets.
Gary loved to play hockey, broomball, softball, bowling, darts, poker and practical jokes. He was a loving, family oriented, devilish, impish, hardworking, charming man, faithful to his wife until the Montreal Canadiens came on TV..lol.
