Obituary of Edith Smith

Smith (nee Scott) A. Edith Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit, in the loving presence of her family, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, age 80 yrs, of Cherry Lane Manuels. Predeceased by her parents , Emma (1979) and Israel Scott (1989), sister, Jean (1983),brothers Bill (2010) and Ralph (Sept. 3, 2011). Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 55 years Gordon, children; Carol (Terry Gosse), Gerald (Karen), Donna (Frank Crotty), Linda (Chris Badcock) and Brenda (Brian Tilley) ; treasured grandchildren, Krista Gosse Ash (Mike), Justin Williams (Catherine), Michael Gosse (Danielle), Danielle Crotty (Brendon), Matthew Smith (Rebecca),Brittany Tilley, Stephen Crotty, Brandon Tilley and Andrew Badcock, very special great-grandchildren, Aiden and Keegan Gosse and Callie Ash. Also leaving to mourn her brother , Don Scott, sisters Stella Walsh (Jim), Edna Keefe (Dan), Marg Morgan (Cyril) and sisters-in law, Edith Houlihan, Joan Scott (Ontario) and Edna Burridge (New York, U.S.A.), brothers-in law, Bob BURRIDGE (Lorannia) and John Burridge (New York, U.S.A.).Also a large circle of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including their camping friends from Terra Nova National Park.The family would like to thank Dr. Tom Brien for his excellent care and support and also, to the nursing staff and doctors at the H.S.C. and the L.A. Miller Centre .Special Thanks to Archdeacon John Dinn and Rev. Jean Smith, for their support, compassion and countless visits to the hospital. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday, 7 - 9 pm, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Saturday 10AM - 12 noon. Funeral Service in St. John the Evangelist Church, Topsail on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2 PM. Internment in the Anglican Cemetery, Topsail.
