Obituary of Charles Blackwood
Charles James Blackwood
May 31, 1938 – June 19, 2020
After a life of faithful service to God and family on June 19, 2020 a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother was taken to be with Jesus, to be reunited with departed loved ones and to await his eternal reward.
Charles(Charlie) is predeceased by parents Sidney and Leah; stepfather Kenneth Piccott; sisters Verna, Elsie and Francis; and brothers Donald and Ronald.
Left behind with so many wonderful memories are wife Marie (nee Worthman), the love of his life for 61 years; daughters Linda Reid (Hubert) and Glenda George (Paul); sons Darryl (Audrey) and Barry(Karen); sisters Sharon Rowsell (Clayton) and Carol; brother Wayne (Gaile); sister-in-law Thelma; ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
For 40 years Charlie served the printing department (20 years as manager) at the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland and Labrador. Despite being offered employment opportunities elsewhere he declined believing he was engaging in a ministry to which God had called him.
Everyone who met Charlie was impressed with his quiet and selfless nature. He was loved and respected by all who were privileged to know him and he will be remembered for his gentle and giving nature, his work ethic and his Christian example.
In lieu of flowers anyone wishing to honour Charlie's memory can contribute monetarily to the CBS/Paradise community food bank.
A family memorial service to celebrate Charlie's exemplary life will be held at a later date. To send a message of condolence, please visit www.hickeysfuneralhome.com
