Obituary of John C. Morrison
John C. Morrison
In the early hours of November 23, we said our final good-byes to our beloved Johnnio as he passed into the next realm. Da grandfadder had great resilience & a fervent will to live that allowed him to miraculously bounce back from serious illness on several past occasions, much to the chagrin of the odd medical professional. He will be remembered as a quiet, kind, non-imposing man with a dry sense of humour that endeared him to many. In his last few years, he looked forward to being “sprung” from the “institution” to hang with Jody & the katz. There were many a photo op as evidenced on Facebook, & late night Face time sessions with Heather & Dave that may or may not have involved alcohol. Despite his declining mobility, he managed a couple of recent pre-covid trips up to the Mainland to visit the nibs. Forevermore, fond memories will be triggered by such random things as lobster suppers, the wonders of Miracle Gro, any aspect of rule breaking, 25 inch pant legs, and Saturday morning Jigs & Reels, to list just a few.
His final years, he resided at MJ Personal Care Home in Manuels where he very quickly made his mark, ensuring adequate floral arrangements on site in the summer, as well as other seasonal décor as warranted, especially in the vicinity of the smoke hut, in which he took special interest. Early in his stay, he attempted (unsuccessfully) to petition for a door to be added to this structure. There is little doubt that the staff of MJ’s were kept on their toes with this guy around. He made several good friends at “the institution”, owners, employees & residents alike. Special thanks to MJ’s for making his last home so “homey.”
Left to celebrate the Legend that is da Grandfadder: devoted daughters Jody Morrison & Heather Moores (Dave); grandkids Elliott Morrison, Heidi & Taylor Moores; beloved sister Judy Campbell; former spouse Maxine & friend Gus; favorite grand fur babies Angie (“arfff”) & Chirp (“chirp”); special friend Cathy. Predeceased by his mom & dad, Doris Morrison (nee Monroe) & John Morrison Sr, brother Kenneth & sister Cynthia.
Cremation has taken place. John’s ashes will be returned to his home town in Englishtown, Cape Breton to rest eternally with his mom, dad & Cynthia. Date to be determined post-covid. To send a message of condolence, please visit www.hickeysfuneralhome.com
See you on the other side, Grandfadder. Love ya!!!
