My heart fell apart when I heard the news a few days ago... I have know Maryse a long long time ago... We used to work together for a lawyers' office in Old Montreal. Maryse was a good and fun person. She always had that comforting smile or that "Guess what happened to me this morning" story to tell. Dear Maryse, I will never forget you. I Never have and never will.

This was Maryse's last day in London (late July 2010). She wanted to see the famous Tower Bridge and Tower Hill where Lady Jane Grey had sadly met her end. Afterwards, we decided to take this lovely river tour along the Thames River and her joy was there for all of us to see. When I think of her now, I think of her in the bow of that tour boat on the Thames, as happy as can be. Just sitting right up front, taking in the spectacular view of the City of London, with that smile on her face, wishing the moment would never end.

July 22 2010, North Queensferry Scotland underneath the iconic Forth Bridge. Maryse was such a champ that whole week. She had just endured 4 x straight days of The Open Championship golf at St-Andrews. Everyday traveling to St-Andrews, she would look down from the bridge on the train and point out the little hamlet of North Queensferry. "OMG, please can we go there some day?" So when the tournament was over, we changed all of our plans for taking the London train to Paris the following day and instead we spent an entire day bombing around Kilkardy and Queenferry (both North & South). She said: "I could live here peacefully for the rest of my life, I absolutely love it here!". In short Maryse gave up Paris & Le Tour Eifel for her day visiting these picturesque little towns west of Edinburgh. She was always full of constant joy but these few days in Scotland were easily the happiest of the days when I knew her.

There are too many amazing memories to pick just one. Right from meeting Maryse, at work, we were bonded. “My little sister red head” she would call me. There wasn’t a day her infectious smile and glowing personality didn’t brighten my day. I was heartbroken when I heard she was moving down east but I knew it was with the love of her life so I was thrilled for her. I’m glad we got to spend a night, just us, watching movies, eating junk food and laughing up a storm before she headed off to start her new life. I was gutted by her passing. I wish I had gotten a chance to talk to her, one more time and give her one last hug... I’ll think of you often, honey and I will miss you terribly. May you find the peace you deserve.
To her family. My sincerest condolences. A bright light has certainly left us but please know she impacted everyone she came in contact with, greatly. She will be missed so much. My heart goes out to you all.

My deepest condolences to Clarence, Maryse's family and extended family. It was a pure pleasure to work with Maryse while I was living in Newfoundland. Although I only knew Maryse for a short time, it was such a joy and honour. Whenever we had a few minutes to talk, she was always smiling and happy to chat and have a laugh. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of Maryse's family and friends. I was just gutted to see this news. Maryse worked with me as my legal assistant at Woodward and Company in Victoria from 2011-2012. Her vivacious spirit and zest for, well, everything made her an absolute joy to work with. I was only a few years into lawyering when I knew Maryse, and she provided me with not just support, but also friendship, mentorship and lessons that I treasure to this day. I absolutely adored Maryse and I was terribly sad when she decided to move on from our firm. But she was off to see the world and determined to find her true love. I remember her telling me, on one of the many occasions when I (only half-jokingly) asked her please not to go, that she knew he was out there somewhere so she just had to go. I'm so glad to see that she did, indeed, find him. Clarence, I am so deeply sorry that your time together was cut so terribly short. May your memories of your time with Maryse be a blessing for all your days. She was a remarkable gift to this world and to all of us who were lucky to know her.
