I am so sorry and shocked to hear of Ches' accident and passing. When I saw the picture of him on his motorcycle, it reminded me of the time he picked me up on my lunch brake at Confederation Building to give me my first motorcycle ride. He was indeed a very kind and thoughtful man and fun to be with. The other pictures also showed a person who loved animals which also expresses his kindness. I pray that you will be comforted as you remember the good times.

I mostly known Chess from our family dinners and events. Really nice guys. Always thought he was a bit shy but that changes once we started playing Chinese Christmas. No one can stay shy during that. It was a good time having him there. I’m really glad his last few years were Spent with his daughters and grandchildren either in Alberta or NL. As I know he love you guys dearly. We have a story of Ches we would like to share with you. We note that Ches has a picture of himself at Whistler on facebook. We have fond memories of the time he and a friend came to Whistler and went skiing for the first time. They spent the morning in lessons after which Ches showed us his new found skills and asked if we thought he could go up the Peak chair and ski down. We took them up the lift and on the way up Ches was nervous going up the shear face but excited to get to the top. Photos were taken and we sent them down an intermediate run. There are no beginner runs off the peak chair. Steve told them to keep up their speed and tuck as they approached the bottom so that they could make it back to the easier runs. They tucked too soon! We watched in dismay as the two of them sped past the peak chair lineup at warp speed in full tuck position. Fortunately no one was in their way and they made it through safely without taking anyone out! Sometime later we ran into their instructor who asked them how they were doing. He was absolutely shocked to hear they had gone up the peak chair on their first day. To this day we have not known anyone else brave enough to try the peak chair on their first day of skiing! This was a true testament of Ches's athletic ability. He had a fantastic day. It is one we still talk about today.

We recall that when he was out in B.C working how he came by to say that he was returning to Newfoundland. He said I am going back home to be with my girls. That's where I belong.
