Obituary of Edward "Twit" Besso

Edward “Twit” Besso

It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Joseph Besso fondly known as Twit, age 88 years of Kelligrews formerly of Holyrood announce that he has passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Leaving to mourn with many wonderful memories his wife of 69 years Ellie (Tilley), his sons Randy (Fitz), Greg (Joanne), his daughters Annette Howse (Bill deceased), Jennifer Cummins (Steve) and Linda (Aaron), grandchildren Angie Legge (Kent), Robert, Bradley, Renee Hallingham (Rob), Ashley Newell (Alfie), Randell (Melissa), Lisa Walsh (Scott), Jessica (Gerry King), Katie Moussa (Khaled), Mark Cummins (Chantal), 15 great-grandchildren, fur babies Smudges, the dog  and Garfield, the cat and two special caregivers Renee Barnes and Cindy Gosse. Also a  very very large circle of family and friends. As Ellie always said, even the dogs knew Twit. We can certainly say he lived a very full and eventful life. Right from the ripe old age of 13 he began driving fleet line buses out of Holyrood. This bus driving job paid off because this is where he met Ellie, the love of his life ; from here their adventure began. From buses to 18 wheelers to garages and boats Twit dabbled in it all. Even in his retirement he continued on with his business adventures. Garfield’s Fries was his last “born” and was his most  enjoyable business venture of all. No doubt he was a memorable  character and anyone who knew him could vouch for that. Dad/Pop, a true loving giving man and if he could help anyone at all he would do it with a heart and a half. He will be thoroughly  missed and forever loved by all who knew him. We Love You. According to COVID restrictions, visitation will be in Hickey’s Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 1PM – 5 PM, Friday, August 6, 2021 from 3PM – 7 PM.
