Obituary of Ashley Chafe

Ashley Mary Chafe

December 21, 1994   -   December 25, 2021

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved angel Ashley Chafe at the age of 27 on December 25, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family at St. Clare’s Hospital after a courageous battle from health conditions related to Spina Bifida. Leaving to mourn are her loving and devoted parents Tonia (Chafe) & David Bishop, and two beautiful and loving siblings who she thought the world of, Brayden and Emma Bishop. Cherished and never forgotten by her loving grandparents Gertrude & Albert Chafe and Mary (predeceased) & Dave Bishop Sr. Lovingly remembered by Aunts and Uncles John Chafe (Joanne), Lisa Chafe (Adam), Lisa Bishop (Rick) and Brian Bishop (Ashley). Cousins Morgan, Ryder, Bailey and Merina and very special friends Kayla Blackwood and Michelle Chafe. Ashley will also be dearly missed by a large group of Great Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, Easter Seals family and friends, too many to mention. A very special thank you to the amazing and caring staff of 7 East at St. Clare’s and ICU, especially Dr. Russell who has been with her since day one and Dr. O’Brien. As well as the Community Health Nurses of CBS, the Janeway hospital and all the doctors and nurses that ever cared for our sweet angel. The family will be forever grateful for your care and comfort provided over the years.  A sincere thank you to her caregivers who provided care over her life, Lisa Chafe, Lisa Bishop and of course nan and mom since day one. Ashley enjoyed life to the fullest extent possible regardless of the obstacles that stood in her way.  Whether it was having a game of cards, a nice fire or listening to the cabin party with pop. Ashley was a fighter from the day she was born only given days to live, however being the strong and courageous young girl she was, she blessed us with a loving 27 years that will be imprinted on all our hearts forever. She left a special mark on anyone she crossed paths with. A private visitation and funeral service is planned, by invitation only. Funeral service will take place in Hickey’s Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Ashley’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. “I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done”
