Dear aunt Sarah and family,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of uncle Doug. I have fond memories of him growing up during his trips to Dover but also our family stays in your home when my sister was at the Health Science Centre. My father looked forward to being around Doug during one of the most stressful times of his life, having a child in ICU. Doug was someone my father relied on in those days and uncle Doug was there for him. I am glad I got to see him a couple of years ago and though decades had passed since I last saw him it was like we had never been out of touch with me living in another province. George and Jessica both said after our meeting that these are good people. They too are saddened and we are all thinking of you and your family today. May the memories of him be a blessing to you all. Rest In Peace uncle Doug.

Aunt Sarah and family
I was very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Uncle Doug. He was a good man and there was no trouble to see how deeply loved he was by his family and friends. I have many fond memories to look back on in the short amount of time I got to spend with him. He will be forever missed but never forgotten. Love you all and wish I was able to be with everyone right now during this difficult time.

Aunt Sarah & Family
I write this message to you all with great sadness as I too lost someone very special to me my dear Uncle Doug.
Uncle Doug you were one of a kind and so easy to love. Thank you for all the days you've made brighter just by being you- there have been more of them than I can count. Thinking of the good life you've lived and the great times we've shared, to mention a couple - camping trips with yourself, aunt Sarah and kids around the island when I was just a girl, the summer trip to NS with your family (listening to your favourite county band Alabama in the van) at that time all of us hated, now in my 40’s I see you had GREAT taste in music hahaha.
So many childhood memories! And I can’t forget my many visits back home over the years and great laughs. I'll always be grateful I got to share many special memories with you and my Dad sure loved you as his brother in-law.
I take much comfort in knowing I got to talk to you just a couple of weeks ago, I got to tell you I loved you and you hold a special place in my heart. If we had to do it all over again no could replace you. You will be greatly missed!!
If I may leave you with a scripture. Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Please find comfort in knowing you are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Aunt Sarah and family,
We are sorry to hear of uncle Doug’s passing.
I have a lot of fond memories of uncle Doug. When I was only a very young fellow he would always come to Dover and pick me to go with him selling salmon, seals and flippers, you name it he had it all. I sure enjoyed his company and working with him, he was a wonderful uncle and treated me like gold. RIP Uncle Doug!

To the Stanley family, we offer our sincere condolences on the passing of Doug. We remember Doug as the leader of your family who, with all the rest of you were hard working honest people always willing to lend a helping hand. We once crossed on the ferry at the same time to North Sydney and although you had a crowd, you shared your cabin with us as there were none available. It was so common to see you all working together or in smaller groups out selling some sort of vegetable, fish, seal or God knows what else.
