Gertie, Boyd, Joyce & Famlies,
Could hardly believe Robert has passed although the last time we spoke he told me he had cancer & it was a struggle. I feel so grateful we had a chat that day at the depot. We were cousins & friends. We spoke of growing up & a number of things we would do each day. Preparing for Bonfire Night was a big thing. We would collect all wooden crats from their store & pack them with the dried potato stalks left from the harvest. We had to get as many as we could for that special night. Boyd would keep a watchful eye on lighting & our festivities. Roasted potatoes, black hands & faces were expected for that night. We also took part in planting . Given a sick a certain length to plant potato, one at each end as we crawled through the drills. Hay harvesting time we would manually rake the gardens & the hay would be stacked on the truck. The best part was Robert & I would get to ride on top to the barn for storage, there Boyd would throw in the hay & we would have to drag it to the corners of the loft. Lots of work, we did it not complaining & had a bit of fun.
Our thought & prayers are with all the family. Rest in peace my dear cousin.
