My sympathy and condolences for the family of Mr. Norris. CWO Norris was the Regimental Sergeant-Major of 36 (Newfoundland) Battalion in the early 1990s when I was a Captain in the unit. As such, I spent a lot of time in garrison and on field training exercises with him. Mr. Norris provided advice on soldier discipline to the Commanding Officer and officers as necessary. He had lots of experience which he shared with the troops and was always professional. As a note, he was posted to CFS Gypsumville in the late 1960s/early 1970s at the same time as my father who was a Warrant Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Small world. CWO Norris served Canada well for 40 years. Bravo Zulu.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of RSM John Norris. I first met John (aka) Sergeant Major Norris in Germany in 1986. I was transferred to Germany from Winnipeg for a six week exercise and was given the job as the Commanders driver! Thanks to SM Norris for giving me that job cause I seen most of Northern Germany. We lost track of each other’s till I came home on a holiday and low and behold he was living in my home town. A friendship began and lasted for the rest of his life! I am sorry I cannot make to the service! RIP Sir and have a Jaggi for me!

I'll always cherish our brief encounters and chats in our CBS neighbourhood throughout the years. They were usually combined with his love for the outdoors and his compassion for life. My sincere condolences to all of John’s family. I met John at our legion branch in Kelligrews where he would sometimes come for morning coffee. He tried his best to drop in on occasion , even when he did not feel well. May you Rest In Peace John, and thank you for the service you gave our country.
So sorry to hear of your passing Uncle John, I will always have fond memories of you to cherish in my heart. Rest in peace my dear Uncle till we meet again.
