Obituary of Marina MacDonald

Marina MacDonald

August 30, 1935 - November 18, 2022

It is with immense sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, nan, nanny and grandnan on November 18th, 2022 at 87 years young at the Health Sciences Centre.

Marina was born in St. Jacques to loving parents. She loved to tell stories of her childhood in one of her favourite places. She was an avid berry picker and loved her garden. Sewing was one of her many great talents and her grandchildren often were on the receiving end of a new outfit or homemade bunny.

Marina was a friend to everyone she met. She loved so many and made an impact on everyone who knew her. She was a constant, a caregiver, a confidante, and a friend. You could always depend on her to be there when you needed her and even when you didn’t know you did. Her love of her family and friends was something she cherished deeply.

Marina spent many years on the altar guild at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, loved to join her square dancing friends during their international competitions and was always up for a game of crib or queens. She taught all of her grandchildren how to have a fun card game from a very young age. Times she truly enjoyed.

Predeceased by: First husband Cecil Dawe, second husband Les MacDonald, parents Clarence & Armenia Pope, brothers Clarence and Norman Pope, sister Ella Rose, Great Grandson David Spears.

Leaving to Celebrate her life: Sons: David (Katherine), Brian (Joy); Step-Daughters: Colleen (Mark), Wanda (John), Anita (Barry), Judy. Grandchildren: Stephanie (Matthew), Gillian (Brian), Timothy (Karl), Jessica (Tom), Jonathan; Jacqueline (Anurag), Kristopher, Nick, Mark, Michael, Alexandra, Kristen.  Great-Grandchildren: Charlie, Michael, Emma, Javed, Ella Rose, Oliver.
