Fond memories of Selkirk music camp in 70s when he was DYC. I'm told he (and his family) was stationed in Sydney NS when my folks were officers in Whitney Pier in late 50s early 60s.

Our condolences to colonel Mona and all the Stanley family. We remember Colonel Ralph as a wonderful person and great encourager. I remember the words of his father (Brigadier William Stanley): “when I am gone don’t ask how did he die; ask how did he live”. A life well lived!

Let. Colonel Mona Stanley & Family,
We were saddened to hear of Colonel’s passing. We have many fond memories of his ministry and compassion shown to us over the years. Especially while working at Divisional Headquarters he would have a few words of encouragement and appreciation whenever he dropped by. It is our prayer that God will comfort and strengthen you during this time. Servant of God we’ll done.

To the Stanley Family:
Thinking of you today and praying for God’s comfort for you all. I think of mom and the many stories she would tell of her time spent in Nova Scotia with your family. Ralph was like her brother she often said. I know she was glad to see him in heaven.
Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever. Daniel 12:3
God Bless

I am feeling a deep loss today and pay tribute to a stalwart. While his name was on my Junior Soldier certificate when he was the DYS in Newfoundland, my real memories of being connected to Colonel Stanley (Ralph) and Mona goes back to the 14 years we all served at THQ at the same time. It was there I saw the many facets of Ralph, including: the strong leader, the strategic planner, the out-of-the box thinker, the voice of advocacy, the dedicated work ethic, the sharp memory (especially for names), the connector, the thoughtful preacher and teacher, the quick wit and humor and the person who could sense if someone was hurting or in need and without hesitation, showed compassion and provided practical assistance, usually behind the scenes, expecting no acknowledgement. He was a mentor to many and could be counted on to always "turn the coin over" to make sure we examined the other side as well. Thorough, not easy, was how he approached many things, especially when difficult decision making was needed. His ministry ranged from corps to youth, to social services and many leadership positions, all of which he gave 100% of his resources to. Ralph and Mona teamed up in kindness and support to many, including me. I am very grateful for his mentorship and their friendship. After his retirement, I would hear of the many causes he volunteered for and the active interest and support he provided in the corps and in the community, which did not surprise me at all. Retirement was a different phase of work and service for him, not a time to stop.
Mona, my heart goes out to you. After over 65 years of marriage and joint service, your loss will be felt deeply. You and Ralph raised amazing children and they, along with their spouses and your grandchildren, will be your support, I am sure.
Mark and Barb, I know your dad valued the legacy his father left for him and you have now been given the gift of his lasting legacy to be comforted by in the days to come.
My thoughts are with you as you process this loss and as you honor and remember him.

His legacy of influence was far reaching across this great land of Canada. A servant of God who led with excellence and integrity. A Godly man who we will miss... Well done servant of God!

I was saddened to hear of Lt. Colonel Stanley's passing. I first met him when he was our Divisional Youth Secretary. He invited Cal and me to be part of the faculty of the Music Camp at Northern Arm, something we never did before, but that meant participating in 20 more music camps at Northern Arm and Twin Ponds and helping out at Silver Birches and Cal at Starrigan. He and his wife Lt Colonel Mona did their job well and had the young people's welfare at heart making sure they were comfortable and didn't go hungry. He is now at rest with the Lord whom he loved and served. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May God the Holy Spirit comfort your hearts in the days to come. God Bless You! Edna Way.
