Last time I saw her was in Sobeys parking lot..she wasn’t long out of hospital and was still in pain. She was beaming to tell me about how good her son was to her…and at that moment he was in getting her groceries for her.

She was great at math and also had a way to make you laugh with very little effort. She was a natural. We met up at Dominion a few years ago and she was very proud to tell me about her son. Earl, Kirby and Brenda's family, words simply cannot express how deeply saddened I am feeling for all of you during this very difficult time. Having shared a friendship with Brenda throughout the last 50 years I know how very much she loved you Earl & Kirby and how much she loved her family.
Personally, her passing has left me feeling sad & heartbroken as well. Brenda & I met in 1973 at St. Peter's school in Upper Gullies & it wasn't long before we became best friends. We were each other's support throughout junior high & high school and we continued to stay in touch when I left home & moved to Gander & from there to ON. Throughout the years we kept in touch by phone and I always looked forward to seeing her in person whenever I was home for a visit. I looked forward to our phone calls to not only catch up with what was going on in our own lives but to also be kept up to date on what was going on with everyone that we went to school with. Brenda always seemed to know who was doing what, when, where and why which gave us plenty to talk about during our 2-3 hour phone calls. lol Those who knew Brenda well knew that she was not one to "mince words." As much as she did not like nor get along with my ex husband she waited until after my marriage ended to tell me how she felt & how much she worried about me throughout the years. Her ability to speak honestly was one of her unique qualities that I admired and respected. Brenda was a true and loyal friend and I will be forever grateful for our friendship and sisterhood.
As sad and heartbroken as I have been feeling I am also feeling relieved that she is no longer in pain. The suffering that she endured throughout the last several years was excruciating. Hearing the pain in her voice & hearing her cry was so very difficult for me and I know how difficult it was for you Earl & Kirby and her family. So often she expressed to me how guilty she felt about being such a burden to her loved ones. Having severe and debilitating health issues myself for many years now I understood how she was feeling but I constantly reminded her that none of what she was going through was her fault and she was not a burden to her loved ones.
Earl, Kirby and Brenda's family, as you grieve the loss of your beloved wife, Mother, daughter, sister and sister in-law I pray that you will find comfort in knowing that Brenda is no longer suffering, you will share and rejoice the memories that you shared together and that Brenda's spirit will live on in all of your hearts. Brenda will forever live on in my heart & I am so grateful that I was able to talk to her briefly last Thursday. I am grateful that I was able to tell her how very much I loved her and how much her life long friendship meant to me & my family.
