To all of Joe's family and loved ones, our deepest condolences. He was a very wonderful, kind man.
In the late 80s and throughout the '90s he used to come into our home daily and take care of our treasured uncle/brother Edgar Butler who had Parkinson Disease and was immobile. He took such good care of him, just as if Edgar was his own family. We always appreciated his giving and kind mannor. Thinking of you all during this difficult time. Joe and family, we just heard the news of your Dad’s passing and were shocked and saddened.
Ray and I were just talking about your Dad the other night, wondering how he was doing and reminiscing about all the good times we shared with him when we lived in Edmonton on his many visits there.
The parties, the Grey Cup gatherings, the trips to Banff. He was always with us and was definitely considered one of the b’ys. So many wonderful memories and laughs … one that still makes me laugh was the one trip to Banff; a bunch of us had booked a few cabins for a weekend trip and whoever arrived first would just grab a room (or claim it). I had claimed one particular room by laying my overnight bag on the bed and in comes your Dad and blatently lays ‘his’ overnight bag on the same bed, not even a sideways look at me as he brushed by me with a grin … much to say “this is my room”. Needless to say, I did give up my claim to it … this still makes me laugh and smile. Your Dad was such a fun, loving friend and will always hold a special place in our hearts and never be forgotten.
