She was a joy to be around and one of my true regrets when I transferred elsewhere as we lost touch. To Brian and all of yours and Joyce’s family, I worked with Joyce at Canadian Heritage when I first graduated from university. I didn’t have much experience working in the office/gov world then and Joyce was one of the people who so kindly took me under her wing. She was an absolute joy to be around and work with. She was Kind and sincere yet she could have that mischievous smile and sparkle in her eye when joking around. I have reflected on her many times over the years and always with positive thoughts. This is the kind of person she was and the legacy she leaves you with. I’ve seen many similar comments like this which show the impression she left on people. Ron and I are heart broken by the passing of our dear friend Joyce. We had many fun times together home in Newfoundland and in St Petersburg Florida. We will certainly miss her especially at our Christmas Tree decorating parties that we have hosted since our daughters Leah & Nicole became friends in grade 1 which was 28 years ago. Lots of laughs together over the years, as well as dancing, playing cards, camping, dinners at each others homes and in our Florida homes. Joyce loved the beach and the signature cocktails that Brian whipped up to remind her of their little piece of paradise when they were back home in NL. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brian, Leah, Amanda and her brothers and sisters during this very difficult time, we are sad that we cannot visit them in their home to share special memories and support them but we are currently in Florida. Joyce welcomed me into her lovely family and shared a few days with me when she was starting on her awful journey.
