So sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. Grateful for his guidance and patience during my years working with him.
I always chuckle when I see jelly beans: he often had some in his pocket but never ate one before he blew the dust off!
Another great memory is his cherry-wood smoked salmon that he prepared himself and brought to school to share with the staff.
May God uphold you with his right arm of righteousness throughout this difficult time.

I’m so sad to hear this. I have so many wonderful memories of elementary school, and he was a big part of that.
My favourite memories always include a hallway sing along. How excited would we be to see the piano being wheeled out to the hall. To watch Mr. Dixon sing Frosty the Snowman, the way he conducted us during the pa rump pa pum pum part to sing quieter and quieter until until we couldn’t hear anything. To keep that many children quiet, shows how well he was respected.
I loved how every assembly ended with the best advice you could give to young children. Eyes open. Ears open. Think!
Mrs Dixon, you have my deepest condolences on the loss of your husband.
I hope your memories bring you peace.

Mrs. Dixon and family, we are so sorry to hear of Mr. Dixon’s passing. I (Marion) had the privilege of working with him while I was employed with the town in Baie Verte. There was always a smile on his face when he walked through the door for council meetings. I think his first thing to do would be to look to see what sweets had been picked up to go with his coffee. My one memory that I have never forgotten are the school assemblies where he would say “ What side of the road are you supposed to walk on.” All of the students would reply “left sir”. His next question would be “Is it the left side?” We would all respond “right sir”. He was a great teacher, mayor and citizen who influenced many people in Baie Verte. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. I never had the pleasure of having him for a principle but I did have the pleasure of interviewing/chatting with him during time as mayor/member of the town council in Baie Verte. He was a fine gentleman who had the interests of the town, and its people, at heart. He certainly left his mark here after he left. I was delighted last year when I saw him and Zelda while I was in SJ and I was able to have another conversation with him. My condolences to the family.

Saddened to hear of Mr. Dixon’s passing. He will be forever remembered as he was a big part of the lives of so many children. He was my elementary principal and was a great role model for us kids. He was firm yet caring and although we did not want to end up in his office; when we did, he treated everyone fairly. I remember him leading the school choir and even us, who were not great singers, participated. I still sing the songs he taught us, like Michael Finnegan and Kookaburra.
I send my condolences to his family and hope you can find some comfort in the fact that he left such a legacy of positive influence with so many of us. He helped shape so many young lives as a teacher, a principal and town mayor. My thoughts and prayers will be with you at this difficult time.

Mr. Dixon is such a large figure in my early life that it is difficult to imagine him not in the world. As principal of R.T. Harvey during my journey through it, he was revered by students. In fact, I think of him many times a week, hearing his voice, as I walk in a parking lot (“Never walk between parked cars.”) or on the street (“Walk on the left hand side of the road, facing traffic.”). He got us to repeat these safety rules regularly. To the beautiful Mrs Dixon and the whole family, I extend heartfelt condolences on your loss.
