Amy was widowed at the tender age of nineteen and despite her broken heart at an early age, she was blessed with her only daughter who was her best friend. With her strong sense of faith and mantra of “everything happens for a reason “she poured her love, kindness and compassion into Jennifer’s soul which is evidently present in her three grandchildren. Amy was also blessed with a gift of throwing a dart and was very proud of her accomplished 26-year career representing her town, province and country as a member of Team Canada competing internationally in England, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Malaysia, Grand Caymen, Las Vegas, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois. While she won numerous provincial and national titles, and medaled in international competition, her proudest was being presented an Achievement Award for Sportsmanship by the National Darts Federation. She was inducted into the National Darts Federation Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Golden Harvest International Hall of Fame in 2002. Locally, she was named Conception Bay South Senior Athlete of the Year in 1994, presented with a QE Pioneer Personal Achievement Award in 2005 and inducted into the Conception Bay South Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. Whether she was competing on the global stage on TSN and CBC Sports or at the local lodge, she maintained her genuine calm demeanor and humble nature.
