Obituary of Eleanor Besso

It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor Charlotte Besso fondly known as Ellie, age 91 years of Kelligrews announce that she has passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.

“Mom was affectionately known as Ellie to those close to her. She was very much a homebody but Dad managed to get her on round trips and camping in the motorhome. She loved to cook and bake for family and “get togethers” were her favorite without a doubt. She so enjoyed a good time with her quick whit and sense of humor. Mom had a fierce love for her family and was always there for us. She showed us a strength that she never even knew she had.”

Predeceased by her loving husband: Edward “Twit” Besso, parents: Evelyn and Randell Tilley, siblings: Raymond Tilley, Bette Meaney, Lois Morgan and son in law: William “Bill” Howse. Leaving to mourn with many wonderful memories her sons: Randy (Fitz), Greg (Joanne Wicks), her daughters: Annette Howse, Jennifer Cummins (Steve), Linda (Aaron) and Diane Besso, grandchildren: Angie Legge (Kent), Robert Besso (Jennifer O’Brien), Bradley Howse, Renee Hallingham (Rob), Ashley Newell (Alfie), Randell Besso (Melissa), Lisa Walsh (Scott), Jessica Besso (Gerry King), Katie Moussa (Khaled) Mark Cummins (Chantal), 18 great children, sister: Olga Dawe, Joan Johnson, Sandra MacLennan, Brenda Morgan. A very special thank you to Ellies Angels: Renee Barnes, Cindy Gosse, Kim Sparkes, Melina Samson, Bev Morgan, Fitzy. Special thank you to Nans medical and nursing team Trina Hatcher, Dr. Roger Butler and Trina Snook. Visitation will take place from Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South on Thursday, April 25th, 2024 from 3 pm to 7 pm. Funeral service from Hickey’s Memorial Chapel, 570 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at 10:30 am. Interment in All Saint’s Anglican Cemetery, Dunn’s Hill.
