Obituary of Eileen Barnable

Eileen Maria Barnable

March 29, 1961,­ – May 10, 2024

Passed away suddenly on Friday, May 10,2024, Eileen Barnable of Kelligrews, NL. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Ronald and Mary (Doody) Barnable, as well as family members Tim Doody (Peg), Eily Doody (Jack Fitzgerald), Elizabeth Doody (Mott) O’Donoghue, and Jack and Dan Doody, special cousin Dave Boylan and many aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Barnable side.

Left with many cherished memories are her very close cousins in New York: Dan (Teresa) Doody, Ellen (John) O’Connell, Maggie (Mike) Hoffman & their families, relatives in County Kerry, Ireland: Eileen and Connie Mangan, Marie Cotter & Mortimer (Morty) O’Donoghue &families as well as her Barnable relatives especially her Aunt Frances, Cousin Terry and his wife, Irene and cherished younger cousins Matis, Felix (her godson) and Rory Barnable.  Also left to mourn are her dear friends Dick and Mary Roche, Michelle Decker, Trudy Pound Curtis, and Barb Picco who was her landlady and friend for many years. Eileen leaves behind her many colleagues at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she was a dedicated employee for nearly 40 years. Eileen’s love for God and her church was very admirable, and she will be missed by her many friends in her parish.

Eileen’s life was a testament to the beautiful, gentle, and most generous person she was.  She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or just an email to let you know she was thinking of you.  Eileen left her heart in Knockbrack, County Kerry, Ireland, Kelligrews, Newfoundland and New York City.  Her spirit will live on in these places forever.  Eileen will be profoundly missed, but the memories she created will be a source of solace and inspiration to those of us who were lucky enough to have crossed paths with her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Manuels on Friday, May 17th, 2024, at 10 am. Inurnment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Ferryland.
