Obituary of Helen Thorne

HELEN CATHERINE THORNE (nee Hanlon)

January 4, 1973 – May 23, 2024

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Catherine Thorne (nee Hanlon), who passed away suddenly at her residence in Foxtrap on May 23, 2024, at the age of 51.

Predeceased by her loving parents: Peter and Mary Hanlon of Norris Arm; brother: Sylvester Hanlon; and nephew: Maxwell Canning.

Leaving to mourn with broken hearts and precious memories are her loving and devoted husband of 11 years Kenneth Thorne; twin sons Colton (Vanessa), and their children: Benjamin, Colton, Hazel,  Tate (Robyn), and their children: Toby and “baby strawberry”; siblings Rod (Helen), Lisa (Jason), Rose (Adrian), Peter (Jesse), Karen, Norman (Shanna) and Terry (Denise); parents-in-law Thomas and Marjorie Thorne of Thornlea; brother-in-law Joseph (Kelly) and sister-in-law Lisa (Ross); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends, all who loved her dearly; also leaving to mourn is her beloved black labrador retriever Rocky, whom she adored and was her constant shadow.

Helen was born in Norris Arm and lived in Foxtrap for the past 20+ years.  She had a passion and natural talent for home décor, gardening and creating her own beautiful crafts and designs.  Her husband, Ken, was her rock and her soul mate.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she glowed when talking about them.  Little “baby strawberry” is expected into this world any day now and her joy of welcoming another beautiful grandchild was immense. Helen will be so deeply missed and will always be in our hearts.
