Marie was a beautiful, kind and generous person. Marie and I attended MUN School of Nursing to complete our Diploma in Public Health Nursing and we frequently traveled to MUN together. Also we are friends with Tina and previously Phil. She is happy now and at rest with her husband and family.

We send our sincere condolences to Marie's family. John & I often ran into your Mom & Dad at Tim Hortons & they always took the time to stop, say hello & ask about everyone. Both genuine, kind & caring people!
Your Mom was the Public Health nurse when our daughters were born. She was so thorough in her care for them.... so much so that in later years if she heard one of them were ill, she would come from her back doorstep to ours with a plate of cookies to help make them feel better:)
Your parents certainly were great neighbors/friends!!!

To Marie's family I send deep condolences. I began working with community health a matter of months after your mother retired. I regret never meeting her in person but I must say... every coworker of hers in Holyrood and many beyond spoke SO highly of her that I can say that she left a huge and positive impression on everyone. I was very sad to hear of Marie‘s passing. It must be so hard to lose both parents so closely together. I have many fond memories of Marie. She was a pillar of the community. Every celebration of life or community event she was ever present. My most vivid memory is sitting at her kitchen table with her piercing my ears for my 12th birthday with frozen earlobes from ice cubes and a sterilize long needle! Back in those days, public health nurses did it all.
May your fond memories of both of your parents bring you solace as you mourn them.

I am so sorry to hear of Marie's passing.I didn't know her very well but I do recall (back in the late 1960s- early 1970s),when she was the Public Health Nurse.As someone who dreaded needles ,from prior experience,I would cringe when there was mention of school immunizations.The first time Nurse Power administered them(in Chapel's Cove),she put me at ease right away with her smile and calming assurance that there would be nothing to it.In later years,she would always stop to chat, still with the same compassionate demeanor and her beautiful smile.I am sure she will be dearly missed but is now reunited with Ron, where there is no more pain and suffering.My thoughts and prayers are with all of Marie's family now and in the difficult days ahead. God bless.

To Keith and all the Power family, this loss so close after Ron is unbelievable in one way, but maybe not so unbelievable in another. They were a close couple in life, and I have to believe they are both in a better place now. Nurse Power's smile and kind manner are the two biggest things I will remember about her. I am saddened to see my friend Marie, (Nurse Power) as I always called her has passed. I volunteered with the Red Cross for many years under Marie's guidance. She was a true friend to my Mom (Carmel Phillips, Colliers) when Mom had her triplets in 1964. She supported our Mom in so many ways. Marie always had a welcome and a hug for me. In later years, I loved to see her when I visited THE STAR. A beautiful lady has passed. May she rest peacefully with her beloved Ron. God Bless all of you as your mourn your beautiful Mom. Words cannot describe the sadness of hearing of your mom’s passing. On behalf of all of us who grew up to your mom’s tenderness, I thank you and your family for sharing “Nurse Power” with us. The thing is that she had more than enough care and affection to go around, and it was easy to see how fond she was of her children. I do not remember seeing your mom without a smile and it was infectious. I was lucky enough to have her as our public health nurse when my oldest was born which allowed my wife to experience her tenderness that we all knew growing up. Our thoughts and prayers were with the Power and Furey families at this time.
