Obituary of Eileen Bussey

Eileen Bussey

With sadness the family of Eileen M Bussey (nee Barry) announce her peaceful passing in the presence of family and friends at the L.A. Miller Centre Palliative care Unit.

Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Wayne and oldest son Christopher, her parents Josephine and Edward Barry; brothers: Cyril, Kevin, Edward and Gerard, sisters: Kate Baker and Patricia. Nephews Andrew, Jonathan and Duane.

Leaving to mourn with so many lasting memories, her children Meighan (Gerard Grace), Joshua and Katie who she devoted her life to. Her precious grandchildren Alexander and Caroline who were the purest joy in her life.

Eileen will be forever remembered by her Brothers Eugene and John (Sandra) and sister Ann Breckon. Brother-in-law Wilfred (Shelia) and Lewellyn Baker Sisters in law Dianne (Rex) Denise, Debbie (Mike), Dwana (Chris) and Darlene (Charlie) and Pep Wakeham as well as many special Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Very special friends Sharyn Williams, Julia Moores and Faye Perham, who no matter time nor distance she counted among her dearest friends.

Eileen was known by all for her strength, in a life that was marred by many tragic losses of dear loved ones, brother, sisters, nephews , her husband and son, she faced it all head on and spent her time caring for and guiding others through the loss. She also showed that strength in navigating her own 8 year battle through cancer with grace , because of that strength and great medical care she thankfully spent very little time feeling ill.

Eileen was also well known for being a great cook who made the best turkey dinner and always made space at her table for anyone who wanted to join. Many a meal was shared with family and friends, especially on a Saturday, which was well know to be pizza day at the Bussey‘s and often drew a crowd, a tradition that spanned decades and fed many.

Eileen’s family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the many medical professionals that provided excellent care throughout her cancer battle, especially her public health nurse Janice, Dr. Brake and Dr. Rogers as well as the staff and volunteers at the Miller Centre. We also wish to thank her family and friends who supported her in so many ways. Many people, too numerous to name, took the time to call, check in, visit, and provide meals. Special thanks to Sandra, Sheila and Dianne for the many lovely meals she so enjoyed and to Sharyn and Denise for being her best friends and whose frequent visits always bought laughter and love.

Cremation has taken place and a gathering of family and friends will take place at her home on Sunday January 12, 2-6pm. To send a message of condolence, please visit www.hickeysfuneralhome.com
