Well...I haven't seen Gail for years...I just now read of her passing and let me extend my deepest and heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
I knew Gail when our boys were in Cubs together...we were on the committee together. I remember her being so full of energy and such a friendly person who welcomed me to her group. I was a young mother, so I always felt a bit award around the other mothers who seemed to have it all together. It's true that when you think of somebody you knew...it's not their looks, possessions or greatness you remember...you remember how they made you feel. Well Gail alway extended her kind heart towards me and made me feel welcome. I am always grateful for that.
So...I also remember her describing things she cooked..( as us women often discussed cooking methods and recipes) . She described her cooking with such passion and gusto, I always imagined her being an excellent cook! I remember her saying that when she carved a turkey...she saved the "goodness " of the turkey (which would have been the gelatinous liquid left on the plate) and scraped it back into the roaster for her gravey. I can only imagine what a fabulous cook she must have been! To this day...I do the same..and think of her every time...
When I think of her..it's with a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye...

Well this is something that Gail and I have laughed and talked about so many times over the years and this goes back a lot of years, when we were both living at home. Gail lived just up from Hickeys Funeral Home (then it was Morgans Home I think) and I lived just the above the railway crossing in Foxtrap. We would get home from school or whereever and Gail would call. "Going for a walk, I will meet you half way". That was all fine, I would leave right away, I would walk and walk and no Gail in sight. I would get to Hickey's Funeral Home and here she is just leaving her driveway. This would happen 8 out of 1o times that we were suppose to meet half way. I would say "Gail where do you call half way" ? So silly I know, but you know every time in later years when we would mention walks, we would always end up laughing at those good old days.
We have had so many great times and talks. One thing about a true friend, is that you may not talk or be in touch for days and days, but you always know that you can get together and its the good old days back again.
As a friend, it is so difficult to think that there will be no 11:00 at night coffee meets. I would call Gail lots of times after 10 at night and tell her I'm on the way to pick her up to go to Timmy's for Coffee. She would say, my ........ what time in the night is it. I would always say, sure we won't be long. Anyways we had lots of great old conversations sitting in the car for an nour or more.
So sad to see you go but you fought and suffered so much, it is such a blessing that your pain and suffering is no more.
